Cheryl was walking our dog Maggie this morning when she saw a colorful boat moored near a popular restaurant in Dorsoduro, the Taverna San Trovaso. The boat was a refrigerated gelato delivery vessel for bars and gelaterie that buy their ice cream from suppliers instead of making it on the premises.
In the video below, you'll witness a scene that's probably unique to Venice:
A shop owner rolls his ice-cream freezer down the street and around the corner to the waiting gelato boat. There, he and the boatman unload packages of ice cream. (At one point you'll see the delivery man climb through a small hatch while the shop owner rests his belly on the boat to reach a package of gelato in another freezer compartment.)
Very paparazzi-like (but fun) video of Gelato delivery in Venice.
